Our Model and Philosophy

Peace Together Mentoring Model is based on our understanding of developmental trauma and associated needs of young people in out of home care. We understand the importance of creating a sense of safety and security with our clients, it is our foundation.

With the foundations of safety and security, we have the opportunity to develop a connection and positive relationship. This is typically when safety and security is fully cemented and there is a sense of trust between mentor and client. It is highly important for the mentor/client relationships to be build with trust, predictability, reliability and consistently meeting the emotional needs of the young person. The young person needs to have a connection with their mentor so that they can be susceptible to future learnings, development, and influence.

Once we have a solid foundation of safety, security, relationship and connection, the young person is able to become open to positive influence, guidance and support with their mentors to develop and work towards their goals in a therapeutic way.
